The conference titled "New Challenges and New Technologies in Public Administration, Public Finances and Tax Law" was held at Széchenyi István University on September 26-27, 2024. The event was organized by the International Center of Public Finance and Tax Law Research (Poland) and the Central and Eastern European Public Administration Association, associated with our university. The conference was attended by 44 participants from Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and North Macedonia.
The conference addressed numerous current issues in the fields of public administration, taxation, and financial law. On the first day, three English-language panels focused on topics such as the taxation of financial markets, the transformation of the European Union’s customs union, new models for municipal financing, and the impact of technological advancements on tax administration. Additional topics included the application of digital technologies in public services, financing the healthcare system, and the effects of digitalization on local taxation and public finances.
Alongside the English-language panels, there were also Polish-language sessions covering the legal aspects of technology in public procurement processes. Participants explored the taxation challenges of e-commerce and modern tax issues in online business activities. The panels also discussed the legal implications of e-health and the new obligations of online entrepreneurs.
The second day began with a seminar on academic writing and research, followed by presentations from PhD students. Topics included electronic delivery in public administration, environmental taxation, the impact of digitalization on tax law, and the concept of a global minimum tax.
Overall, the conference provided a comprehensive overview of how technological advancements and policy changes are influencing public administration and financial law.
